Lunch with new BenBella author Steve Mariotti

I had the privilege of meeting one of BenBella’s newest authors, Steve Mariotti, for lunch recently. Steve is widely considered one of the leading experts on entrepreneurship education for low-income youth and is a prominent global advocate for both entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship education. He is the founder of the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE), a nonprofit foundation that provides entrepreneurship education to at-risk youth around the world. More than 700,000 young people have graduated from NFTE programs since Mariotti founded the organization in 1987. We are thrilled to be publishing three books by Steve in the next few years:

• The Insider’s Guide to Starting, Financing, and Operating a Sustainable Social Enterprise: Using his three decades of experience as the head of a global nonprofit plus interviews with prominent social entrepreneurs, Steve offers insight into what goes into a successful social enterprise.
• Triumph of the Entrepreneurial Spirit: An inspirational book that shares riveting stories of entrepreneurs from Cambodia, Vietnam, Haiti, and may more conflict-torn regions who have used the entrepreneurial mindset to overcome incredibly difficult circumstances.
• Goodbye Homeboy: The true story of Steve Mariotti, a businessman-turned-special education teacher in New York City’s most notorious public high school who founded the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship as a way to give disadvantaged youth the opportunity to start and grow micro-businesses and become self-motivated, self-sufficient, high-functioning adults.
