1. Marketing Manager Position

Job Title: Marketing Manager 

Pay & benefits 

Pay: Full-time, salaried, in ~$60K range 

Benefits: Benefits include health insurance paid by the company and dental and vision insurance at a modest charge per paycheck. We also have an IRA-matching program and life and disability coverage. You would start with 10 days of paid vacation time and 10 days of paid sick time. You would be eligible for a 5-day vacation increase once when you reach the end of your first year with BenBella and again once you reach your seventh year. 

Start date: ~January 2025 

Location: work from home

BenBella Books is an independent publishing house based in Dallas, Texas, specializing in nonfiction books on popular culture, health and nutrition, business, science, politics, psychology, and other topics. BenBella offers authors a partnership philosophy, personal attention, flexibility, and a creative approach to marketing. 

Position description & essential functions of the position: 

To support BenBella Books’ general imprint in all marketing capacities, including: 

  • Managing our Marketing Assistant
  • Overseeing BenBella’s various social media channels, multi-platform social media experience
  • Developing and executing a marketing plan for each of ~20 titles per year, in collaboration with author teams
  • Working closely with authors to execute the marketing plan 
  • Responsibility for writing media pitches and communicating with all marketing contacts
  • Media research, spreadsheet management, proofing, and other various marketing-related tasks 
  • Proficient in Canva or other digital design would be a plus

Desired qualities: Candidates should have book marketing experience, with nonfiction book marketing experience a significant plus. Should be extremely organized, reliable, self-driven, have a strong work-ethic, and exhibit strong writing skills.

2. Mailing Assistant Description

Part of the marketing department

Job Title: Mailing Assistant

Part-Time: Full time (non-exempt)

Location: DFW. This position is located at the BenBella suite at Saltbox, a co-warehousing space in Farmers Branch

Pay: $30-35K

Years of Experience: 1-3 years of experience with ShipStation, managing inventory, and mailing and administrative skills

Position description:

To support the marketing department with a variety of administrative tasks, facilitating all mailings, managing the off-site mailing warehouse, including inventory support, ordering stock, and receiving and processing orders from the full marketing department.

Expected to be available for weekly video check-in calls.

Essential functions of the position:

  • Responsible for receiving, printing, and organizing all mailings that come in from the marketing department
  • Responsible for updating trackers with shipment information
  • Responsible for processing mailings at our Dallas-based inventory warehouse  
  • Responsible for coordinating with non-local warehouses to process additional mailings, as needed
  • Responsible for monitoring inventory and stock levels at the warehouse and ordering/returning stock as needed
  • Responsible for compiling and distributing weekly marketing update emails
  • Responsible for managing the department’s book awards submission process
  • Responsible for ordering author gifts
  • Responsible for additional administrative and marketing tasks as needed, which may require occasional pickups around Dallas (mileage will be reimbursed)

Desired qualities: ShipStation experience, inventory, and mailing experience. Extremely organized and reliable.
