Marketing and Publicity Intern – Remote

We’re looking for someone who has experience handling large amounts of information, organizing workflows, creative writing, and handling correspondences. All are welcome, and individuals from outside the publishing world are encouraged to apply. We’re looking for passion!
Matt Holt Books, an imprint of BenBella Books, is seeking a remote Marketing and Publicity Intern to coordinate multiple aspects of book campaigns and provide administrative support to our imprint, which specializes in business and general non-fiction titles. We need a stellar communicator with a clear and professional digital tone, who is ready to take on exciting projects and opportunities.
Flexible hours or alternative schedules within the standard work day may be considered, the role can be full or part-time for the right applicant. BenBella Books is a fully remote office.
Responsibilities:
- Manage book-related press and marketing opportunities
- Schedule, prioritize, and follow-up on press inquiries
- Maintain an existing media database by conducting updates and making additions regularly
- Use existing design templates to craft messaging and designed assets such as press releases, social media graphics, and additional visual elements
- Conduct industry research to identify emerging trends
- Prepare marketing plans, reports, presentations, or support documents based on specific instructions
- Coordinate and distribute information and materials to staff and authors
- Schedule, prioritize, and follow up on meetings and appointments
- Analyze manuscripts and support documentation to craft media pitches
Qualifications/Desired Skills:
- Desired design experience: Adobe Suite or Canva
- Desired documentation experience: Google Suite
- Email and database management
- Creative writing
- Exceptional communication skills with proven ability to communicate via telephone, computer, or video conferencing
Compensation:
$15-$22 per hour depending on experience (DOE)
Duration:
30-40 hours per week
Four (4) months with potential to extend, October 2024 – January 2025
