Shirin Behzadi was born and raised in Iran. As a young teenager, Shirin witnessed the chaotic and violent changes as a result of the regime change and the ensuing war in Iran. After being arrested twice, her parents decided to send her out of the country. At 17, Shirin immigrated and was left alone in Turkey with little money and no friends. Through self-reliance and tenacity, she found her way to the United States where she began her life working at a gas station. Following a vision to run a big company, Shirin worked full time and earned her bachelor’s degree. She rose quickly through the ranks as a CPA and CFO and left it all to pursue entrepreneurship. After years of trial and tribulations and lessons learned, Shirin was able to navigate the growth of the company and recruited private equity. Her years of hard work built on principles she had learned through her years of adversity helped her grow the company to a billion dollars. Today, Shirin dedicates her life to helping others grow and realize their visions through speaking and board and advisory work. Shirin lives in Southern California with her husband and is close to her two children and their families.
Chad Belding, born in Reno, Nevada, is a lifelong sportsman and outdoors enthusiast whose love of the lifestyle was instilled at a very young age by his father, who ensured that both Chad and his brothers were encouraged to evolve an appreciation of the outdoors at every turn. Chad’s passion eventually led him to predator and waterfowl hunting, and he later became involved in competitive duck and goose calling while attending college at The University of Nevada Reno. Following his graduation with a Bachelor’s degree, he put his background in business to good use, co-owning and operating several businesses across Nevada, Colorado, and Washington.
In 2008, Chad founded Banded, a video production and merchandising company that specializes in hunting gear and accessories. That same year, he became a part of The Fowl Life, which is still airing on The Outdoor Channel. Chad started his podcast This Life Ain’t For Everybody in 2018, where he covers a wide assortment of themes and topics related to the outdoors. Always looking forward, Chad is also closely involved with The Provider, a new brand that will provide live workshops on dog training, hunting/shooting, and preparing your bounty. When he’s not hard at work or spending time with his family, Chad loves music, baseball, and boating, and is also a philanthropist working with several charities including Ronald McDonald House, Freedom Hunters, St. Jude’s, and Special Ops Excursions, amongst others.
In 1992 James John Bell left a four-year career in television news with ABC to support Native American sovereignty struggles with creative media strategies and award-winning documentary video-making. In 1996 he founded CounterMedia in Chicago to provide alternative media coverage of the Democratic National Convention, helping to lay the foundation for the Indy Media Center and today’s global independent media movement. James was the writer/director at the Chicago-based nonprofit public interest communications firm Sustain, where he managed advertising and public relations campaigns for critical environmental and social issues surrounding biotechnology, energy, land use and transportation for the Sierra Club, Rainforest Action Network, Earthjustice, Friends of the Earth and the Center for Food Safety, among others. His work has appeared in many publications, most notably the New York Times Magazine, the Washington Post and Communication Arts. James is currently an award-winning advocacy advertising writer and producer for print, television, radio and the Web for the nonprofit communications firm that he co-founded in 2003 called SmartMemeStudios.com. His clients include national nonprofits, like Greenpeace and the Breast Cancer Fund, and SmartMeme now has offices and staff on the West Coast, East Coast, Midwest and Northwest. An avid gamer, hacker and writer, he continues to write about social issues and technology for a number of countercultural magazines and Web sites like Clamor, the Earth First! Journal and Verbicide, as well as mainstream science and technology publications, like the Futurist. He recently authored the afterword to the eco-sci-fi classic The Sheep Look Up by science fiction legend John Brunner, published by Benbella Books.

Eric Berger is the senior space editor at Ars Technica, covering everything from astronomy to private space to NASA policy, and author of the book Liftoff, about the rise of SpaceX. Eric has an astronomy degree from the University of Texas and a master’s in journalism from the University of Missouri. He previously worked at the Houston Chronicle for 17 years, where the paper was a Pulitzer Prize finalist in 2009 for his coverage of Hurricane Ike.
