Joe Sweeney is a businessman, entrepreneur, former sports agent, investment banker and author.

For 28 years, Joe has built a career by combining his love of business and his passion for sports. Joe brings an extensive background in hands-on business experience. Joe has owned and operated four manufacturing companies and has more than three decades experience in the business and sports worlds. Prior to acquiring an equity position in Corporate Financial Advisors, a middle-market investment banking firm, Joe founded and was president of SMG, a sports management firm that specializes in assisting and representing coaches and athletes including three-time MVP, Brett Favre. Joe was also president of the Wisconsin Sports Authority and serves or has served on 23 boards of directors. Joe received his BA from St. Mary’s College and his MBA from the University of Notre Dame.

Shanna Swendson’s first job out of college was in the public information office at a medical school, and while she didn’t know a real Dr. House, she did have to work with the personifications of a few of his more interesting traits (to put it nicely). Now she’s primarily a novelist, the author of Enchanted, Inc., Once Upon Stilettos and Damsel Under Stress. She’s also contributed to Flirting with Pride and Prejudice, Welcome to Wisteria Lane, So Say We All and Perfectly Plum, and she still does the occasional bit of medical writing. Dean Takahashi is a columnist in the business section of the San Jose Mercury News and author of The Xbox 360 Uncloaked: The Real Story behind Microsoft’s Next-Generation Video Game Console, launched in May 2006. He also wrote Opening the Xbox: Inside Microsoft’s Plan to Unleash an Entertainment Revolution. He currently writes a tech commentary and gadget review column for the newspaper of Silicon Valley. He also podcasts and blogs on video games for the Mercury News via Dean & Nooch on Gaming. For most of his 18 years as a journalist he has written stories about technology and has won several awards. He has written about the video-game industry for 10 years and the semiconductor industry for 12 years. When he has time, he’s an avid gamer. He lives in the suburbs of San Jose, Calif. His favorite game is Halo.

John Talty

John Talty is the senior sports editor and SEC Insider for Alabama Media Group, the leading statewide news organization—which includes AL.com, The Birmingham News, The Mobile Press-Register, and The Huntsville Times. He is an award-winning journalist who has covered college sports for nearly two decades, with a specific focus on the Southeastern Conference for most of the last decade.

Located in Birmingham, Alabama—the same city the SEC calls home—no one has a better feel for what moves Alabama and SEC football fans than John. He frequently appears on The Paul Finebaum Show on SEC Network, the most influential college sports show in the country, and regularly makes appearances on ESPN and Sirius/XM national radio shows. Finebaum has referred to John often on his show as college football’s best writer.

John has primarily covered SEC football since joining The Jackson Clarion-Ledger in 2012. In Alabama, John has written extensively about Saban and his Alabama football program. He has built deep relationships with former players, coaches, and staffers who have shared the same orbit as Saban. John also focused on sports business angles throughout college athletics, regularly writing about TV rights and athletic department finances, among other topics.

Born and raised in Hawaii, Patrice graduated from the University of Hawaii in 1974 and now lives in Manhattan. She devotes much of her free time to serving on the boards of non-profit organizations dedicated to helping women and girls, including the Girl Scout Council of Greater New York, the Family Violence Prevention Fund, the American Friends of Phelophepa (the South African health care train), and Asian Women in Business. She also serves on the Past Presidents Council of New York Women in Communications and is a former trustee and member of the Women’s Forum New York. Patrice is a competitive ballroom dancer and avid tennis player.

Ian Tatersal is a curator in the Division of Anthropology at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. His research is in paleoanthropology and lemur biology, and he is the author of some 20 books including Becoming Human (Harcourt Brace, 1998), Extinct Humans (with Jeffrey Schwartz: Westview Press, 2000), The Monkey in the Mirror (Harcourt, 2002), and the forthcoming New Oxford World History, Vol 1: Beginnings to 4000 BCE (Oxford University Press) and Human Origins: What Bones and Genomes Tell Us About Ourselves (with Rob DeSalle: Texas A&M University Press).
