Dr. Ian Smith

Dr. Ian Smith is the author of 29 books, including the #1 New York Times bestsellers ShredSuper ShredBlast the Sugar Out, The Clean 20, and Fast Burn, with millions of copies in print.

Dr. Ian served as the solo host of the nationally syndicated Emmy Award-winning television show The Doctors and was a longtime medical contributor to The Rachael Ray Show. He is the creator and founder of the national health initiatives, The 50 Million Pound Challenge and The Makeover Mile. Dr. Ian is the former medical correspondent for NBC News Network and The Today Show, and has appeared extensively on broadcasts, including The Oprah Winfrey Show, The View, and Anderson Cooper 360. He has written for publications like TIME, Newsweek, Men’s Fitness, and The New York Daily News. Dr. Ian served two terms under President Obama as a member of the President’s Council on Fitness, Health, and Nutrition.

Dr. Smith graduated from Harvard College and Teachers College of Columbia University. He completed his first two years of medical school at Dartmouth Medical School and earned his medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine.
