Robert Lufkin, MD, has served as full professor at both the UCLA and the University of South California Schools of Medicine. In addition to being a practicing physician, he is author of over 200 peer reviewed scientific papers and fourteen books that are available in six languages. Among his many inventions including several patents in artificial intelligence, he developed an MR-compatible biopsy needle which is used worldwide today as the “Lufkin Needle.” He is active on social media with more than 250,000 followers. His most recent book, Lies I Taught in Medical School is coming out in June 2024.
Frederick N. Lukash, M.D., FACS, FAAP, has consistently been voted one of “America’s Top Doctors” by the Castle Connolly guide and by the Consumer Research Council of America (BestDoctors.com). A Board Certified cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgeon in practice in New York City and Long Island since 1981, he is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
He received his college and medical degrees from Tulane University. His postgraduate training in surgery and plastic surgery includes Emory University, State University of New York and Harvard University, where he held the position of Instructor in Surgery.
Dr. Lukash is a member of all the major plastic surgical societies, including The American Society of Plastic Surgeons—for whom he is the media spokesperson on the topic of teens and plastic surgery.
Giorgia Lupi is an award-winning information designer and partner at Pentagram Design whose work synthesizes data and storytelling in innovative ways to create unique and singular brand expressions. One of the most lauded designers of her generation and a prominent voice in the field of data design, Lupi was the 2022 recipient of the National Design Award from the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum. In 2022 she also received an honorary doctorate from the Maryland Institute College of Art. Her TED Talk on her humanistic approach to data has over one million views. She has published two books, Dear Data (Princeton Architectural Press, 2016), exploring the details of daily life through hand-drawn visual data; and Observe, Collect, Draw! A Visual Journal (Princeton Architectural Press, 2018), a guided journal for collecting visual data.

Leah E. Lurye is currently a graduate student in the social psychology program, with a special focus in developmental psychology, at New York University. Currently she is interested in what people conceive of as gender typical or atypical, and how they react to those who violate gender norms. She is an enthusiastic Pixar fan and believes “The Incredibles” is one of the coolest movies of all time.

Matthew Lysiak was a staff investigative reporter for the New York Daily News, where for ten years he covered national stories across the country, including the death of Trayvon Martin, the BP oil spill, the shooting of Rep. Gabby Giffords, and hundreds of other national stories. His exclusive coverage of Occupy Wall Street and the 2012 shooting in Sandy Hook, Connecticut brought him national attention. In 2013, he left the Daily News and published Newtown (Simon and Schuster) and Breakthrough (Harper Collins) and co-authored the six book Scholastic series Hilde Cracks the Case. He has appeared on TODAY, Chris Matthew Hardball, the Kelly File, New Day on CNN and dozens of other television and radio outlets to promote his work. The story of his family is the subject of an upcoming television series on Apple streaming starring Brooklynn Prince and Jim Sturgess. Matthew lives with his wife, four daughters, and two dogs in Patagonia, Arizona.
Paul Lytle is an author and musician living on the southwest side of Houston, Texas. He earned a bachelor of arts from Houston Baptist University in English and political science with a specialization in creative writing, and will soon earn a master of liberal arts degree. He is an editor and writer for the Webzine Primum Mobile (www.primum-mobile.net) and is amassing quite a collection of comic books and gently used paperbacks. This is his third contribution to the Smart Pop series, the other two in The Man from Krypton and Webslinger. He hopes that there will be many more in the future, since they provide a good excuse to head over to the comic book shop (“It’s research, honey!”). Dr. Mikhail Lyubansky is a lecturer in the Department of Psychology at the University of Illinois-Urbana-Champaign, where he teaches Psychology of Race and Ethnicity and Theories of Psychotherapy. His research interests focus on conditions associated with changes in social identity and beliefs about race, ethnicity and nationalism, especially in immigrant and minority populations. He recently co-authored a book about Russian-Jewish immigration: Building a Diaspora: Russian Jews in Israel, Germany, and the United States. He has no known mutant powers but provides regular Congressional testimony opposing the Mutant Registration Act.
