Patrick Hardy

Patrick Hardy is founder and CEO of Hytropy Disaster Management™, the largest full-service disaster management company in the US. A Certified Emergency Manager®, Certified Risk Manager®, Master Business Continuity Professional®, and a FEMA Master of Exercise®, he has extensive experience working in the public, private and non-profit sectors in disaster management from micro-businesses to Fortune 500.

He is recognized as the foremost expert in disaster preparedness in over a dozen industries, having invented plans now considered best practice in that industry. He has been also extremely active in philanthropic efforts for disaster preparedness. He has developed pro-bono disaster plans for over 40 major non-profit organizations including Meals on Wheels, California CERV, the International Society for Augmentative and Alternative Communication, and many others.

He has been cross-trained and certified in hazmat, emergency communications, Homeland Security policy, and terrorism. Patrick began his career in EMS ambulance first response, eventually becoming a visiting instructor to the National EMS Academy’s paramedic program, and wrote the chapters on disaster preparedness, terrorism, and weapons of mass destruction for the new Advanced Emergency Medical Technician Textbook for use in the US National Curriculum.

Richard Harland

Richard Harland lives between the golden beaches and green hills of Wollongong, south of Sydney in Australia. For 10 years, he was a university academic, with three published books on the philosophy of language. Then he resigned to become a full-time writer. He has published SF thrillers (the Eddon and Vail series), a fantasy trilogy (the Ferren books) and two gothic cult novels. His latest novel, The Black Crusade, won the Aurealis Award for Best Novel in any category of SF, fantasy or horror.

Kristin Harmel

Kristin Harmel is the author of the Warner Books/5 Spot novels How to Sleep with a Movie Star and The Blonde Theory, as well as the upcoming The Art of French Kissing (Warner Books, February 2008) and When You Wish (a YA novel from Delacorte Press/Random House, January 2008). She is a frequent contributor to People magazine and a freelance writer whose work has appeared in magazines including Glamour, American Baby, Men’s Health and YM. She appears regularly on the nationally syndicated TV morning show “The Daily Buzz.” After having lived in New York, Paris and Los Angeles, she now resides in Orlando, Fla., where she can be found every Thursday night on her couch, her TV tuned to ABC. Steven Harper

Steven Harper lives in Ypsilanti, Mich., with his wife and son. He teaches English in Walled Lake, Mich., and he is appalled that the school requires him to teach Romeo and Juliet, which contains horrifying violence and shocking dirty jokes. His students think he’s hysterical, which isn’t the same as thinking he’s hilarious. He is the creator of the Silent Empire series for Roc Books, including Dreamer, Nightmare and Trickster. Charlaine Harris

Charlaine Harris, who writes one conventional mystery series and one humorous/vampire/romance/adventure mystery series, lives in southern Arkansas with a husband, three children, a ferret, two dogs and a duck. The duck stays outside. Charlaine won the 2002 Anthony Award for Dead Until Dark, the debut novel of her vampire series. Almost needless to say, she loves “Buffy.”

David Harris

David Harris is an Australian physicist and science journalist. He previously presented a popular radio show in which callers would challenge him to answer their scientific questions. In the same spirit, he wrote 65 episodes of a television series that answered children’s science questions. He has also reported on science for newspapers and magazines, and is founding editor-in-chief of the magazine symmetry, which focuses on the world of particle physics, synchrotron x-ray science and cosmology. He is currently based in California at Stanford Linear Accelerator Center, which copublishes symmetry with Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory.

After struggling with IBS herself, Dr. Dawn Harris Sherling’s symptoms seemingly disappeared while in Italy. In an effort to help her patients and herself, Dawn began learning more about how food additives such as emulsifiers, thickeners, and stabilizers are wreaking havoc on our microbiomes and how eliminating them can reverse several diet-related diseases. Dawn currently sees patients at a clinic for the underserved in South Florida and teaches at the Charles E.
