Olaf Jorgenson, EdD

Dr. Olaf “Ole” Jorgenson is a school leader and teacher who has supported parents at public and private schools in three states, as well as in Asia, Europe, and Central America. Since 2008, Ole has served as head of school at Almaden Country Day School in San Jose, California. He works closely with parents on a daily basis and is attuned to the prevailing needs, anxieties, and concerns challenging them today, especially in Silicon Valley’s fast-paced environment. Ole speaks and publishes widely in education, across a range of subjects in education and educational leadership, including dozens of conference presentations and journal articles and three previous books. His recent work concerns the impact of excessive academic demands on student wellness. Ole is a field instructor for the Klingenstein Center for Independent School Leadership at Teachers College, Columbia University, coaching graduate students; he also sits on the Center’s advisory board. Ole’s parenting expertise was included in The New York Times-bestselling parenting book, How to Raise an Adult: Break Free from the Overparenting Trap and Prepare your Kid for Success, by Julie Lythcott-Haims. Ole lives in San Jose with his wife and daughter, and a small collection of rescued dogs.
